Pavel Piekar (born in 1960 in Ostrava) is a prominent Czech graphic artist, widely recognized for his virtuoso work with the technique of colour linocut. His creations are distinguished by precise, realistic drawing, which he transforms into complex multi-coloured prints — often involving up to fifty layers. In his works, he explores a wide range of themes — from landscapes, portraits, and architecture to figurative compositions and imaginary scenes. Piekar’s prints are technically highly demanding, emotionally evocative, and often feature crypto portraits that add a distinctive personal dimension to his art.
Leo Schmid, born in 1958 in the Zürcher Oberland, lives and works in Hinwil-Hadlikon. His artistic career began with an apprenticeship as a forest warden—a profession that connected him deeply not only with nature but also with the material wood. From this natural connection, a creative passion emerged: found pieces from the forest are transformed under his hands into expressive sculptures that preserve the raw beauty and history of the material. Between 1981 and 2010, Leo Schmid exhibited his works in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Switzerland and abroad. His art is shaped by a deep respect for the material and a desire to reveal its natural expressive power.
