Poets in the Spiral of Time

The program is inspired by Antonín Brousek’s book “The Remarkable Magicians.” The book is an anthology of verse speeches from Czech Stalinism and reveals the absurdity and propagandistic nature of the literary production of that era. Many poems appear almost unintentionally comical, as they praise tractors, young tractor drivers, party leaders, or the “happy tomorrows.”
